Youth Leadership

Shaping the Leaders of Tomorrow

Leadership is the foundation for what can be accomplished in an individual’s personal and professional life. That is why The Chamber Foundation Inc. has chosen to collaborate with area school districts to offer an innovative, four-year program designed to develop the leadership and life skills of area youth – who will serve as the business leaders of tomorrow – to help ensure the area’s continued growth.

Youth Leadership exposes students to the fundamental principles and attitudes of successful leaders. They are taught leadership in career fields and given the chance to meet leaders in those professions. They are trained in essential leadership skills and given tangible tools to put to use immediately. They are also empowered to cast a vision for their lives and given confidence to make it a reality.

Through interactive workshops, students learn and practice essential skills such as team building, communication, creative thinking, decision making and conflict resolution.
Class of 2008

Junior Achievement is also a part of the program in order to help students learn the “economics of life” as they design, market and manage their own business. Business volunteers in the community are also utilized greatly to serve as mentors, allowing students to learn about career options and about the skills needed to succeed in the world of work.

Furthermore, community involvement is a vital piece of the program and as such, students are required to develop the basis for a community-service project and must see it to fruition.

As a result of our Youth Leadership, students return to their schools and communities inspired and better prepared to lead, face the challenges that lie ahead, and to achieve their goals.
